Fame and fortune at last! Well – fame, anyway…
It was good to be interviewed recently for a profile on my work and practice in the latest edition of ArtsEast, a leading magazine on the arts in the East.

I don’t often get the opportunity to display my larger work, so it’s great to have some on show at this year’s Cut Open Exhibition in Halesworth.

I’ve recently started a new project, focusing on the Pit Girls and women – also known as Patch Girls – who used to labour in the Tredegar iron and coal works.
One of the most striking features in the few photos that exist of them, taken by William Clayton in 1865, was the extraordinary hats they wore with their daily work clothes. I’ve attempted to recreate a few examples here.
First came the news that one of the first paintings I produced since moving to Suffolk, “Here for the Spirit”, had sold at the annual Southwold Art Circle exhibition.

Second, it was nice to learn that mine was one of the first cards to go at Mandell’s Gallery’s postcard sale, held to raise funds for painter and printmaker Sarah Cannell’s son, Henry.

Very pleased to be taking part in the new Easterly Artists Trail, 11am–5pm, Saturday– Sunday 16-17 June.
I’ll be joining 4 other local artists in the Waveney area in Suffolk, to open our studios to the public and give visitors the opportunity to meet us direct and ask us (almost!) any questions about our practice.

Great show at the Apex Gallery, Bury St Edmunds, in April, with 5 of my pieces on display as part of the Suffolk Open Studios 2018 exhibition of work by this year’s participating artists.
Took a little time up a ladder to finalise the hanging, but well worth the effort and a lot of good work on show!
The show in Court Cupboard Gallery went well, after braving the Welsh snow in time for the set-up and launch event… There’s a shot of the exhibition space below.
Meanwhile, this year’s Suffolk Open Studios is upon us again – see the shot below, preparing one of the works for display as part of the programme. My studio will be open the first 3 weekends in June: 2–3, 9–10 and 16–17. Please come and visit!

It’s been a long winter, so it’s good to kick off 2018 with a new show at the Court Cupboard Gallery, Llantilio Pertholey, just outside Abergavenny.
The exhibition runs 9 March–10 May and will feature new work drawn from my own memories of the surrounding area, so I’m very much looking forward to seeing it on display in what really is a wonderful location.
